Message from the President of Fasco To all Security Agency Owners and Employees
Our Mission At FASCO Is To:

Work with FASCO members and State regulators in promoting professionalism and improving the image of Florida's Security Industry. Support Law Enforcement and other Emergency Services while protecting Florida's citizens, public and private property and serving as an integral part of our State's Homeland Security and Hurricane Recovery Program. Serve as a respected, viable voice while representing Florida's Security Industry before the Florida Legislature and other political entities. Promote responsible managerial practices among all FASCO members and report any unlicensed, unethical or illegal practices to the proper authorities.

If you are not a FASCO Member and wish to help, the best way is to join and support FASCO. You will then be kept up to date and notified of important matters affecting your industry in Florida. You do not have to be a Security Agency owner to be an Associate Member of FASCO. An interest or involvement in the Private Security Industry is all that is required. All FASCO Directors are non-paid volunteers, and we are B Agency Owners or Employees. We donate our time to maintaining the FASCO website, traveling to Legislative hearings and Committee meetings. We get no reimbursement for expenses and don't ask for any. What we do ask for is your support of FASCO by joining our Association and participating in the fight to professionalize Florida's Private Security Industry and improve the lot of our Licensed Security Officers.

The minimal Agency Annual Dues all go toward funding:

  • 1. The Annual John M. Russi Award (Plaque) presented to an Outstanding Licensed Security Officer (along with a $500. check) nominated by a member Agency.
  • 2. Funding and maintaining the FASCO website.
  • 3. Paying a Lobbyist when necessary.
  • 4. Miscellaneous office and administrative supplies.

Since 1997, FASCO Has Represented Florida's Security Industry:

While providing testimony at State Hearings during Governmental Reorganization to successfully transfer the Division of Licensing and place it under an elected, rather than appointed, State Department Head.
By exploring possible avenues to self-insure the Security Industry for potential lower rates similar to the Florida Sheriffs Association. Before the Legislature in an unsuccessful effort to repeal the sales tax on security services. By organizing personal contacts and mass e-mailing from FASCO Members to Legislators on Bills affecting the Security Industry. By notifying FASCO members of State Alerts and BOLO's.

By successfully lobbying the 2005 Legislature to pass SB2278/HB717 authorizing G-Licensed Security Officers to carry 9mm firearms on duty. During 2006 by developing Legislative Sponsors and support from the Florida Sheriffs Association to successfully pass HB85 that provides for enhanced penalties for anyone assaulting or battering a Licensed Security Officer while on duty. During 2007 by developing Legislative Sponsors and support from the Florida Sheriffs Association and DHSMV to successfully pass A Lighting Bill that changed the ability to better Identify ourselves for a faster, safer response for Public Safety and Medical Personnel responding to calls from Security Officers in Emergency Situations and Natural Disasters using 50/50 Split of Amber/Green lights. Also During 2007 To Stop the Florida Legislature from Closing the Regional Offices that Allow us to do our Business, Drop off Applications, Get Fingerprinted for Licenses, Pay for Renewals, Allow the state to do Local Investigations on bad Businesses, Employees, Licensees of the PI, Recovery, and Security Industry.

Please do your part to support our Industry by joining FASCO today!
